Discover our core mission to create inclusive spaces where transgender voices are heard, celebrated, and empowered. Through art, education, and community building, we work toward a future of dignity and liberation for ALL.
From its earliest conception, Lovely Bouquet of Flowers has centered on authenticity, artistry, and community. The essential elements of our work - storytelling, lived experience, performance, and participation - are not simply tools but truths. By centering transgender and gender-nonconforming voices in every part of the process, from authorship and casting to production and presentation, we create spaces where those often marginalized can be seen, heard, and celebrated. The symbolic language of flowers allows us to approach deep issues with care and metaphor, inviting reflection and connection that transcends identity and speaks to our shared humanity.
We fulfill our mission by remaining grassroots and deeply personal. Every script line, every panel question, every workshop prompt is rooted in real stories, real people, and real stakes. We cast trans actors in trans roles. We hire and partner with artists, educators, and organizers who reflect the communities we serve. Our program is dynamic - designed not to broadcast a message, but to co-create meaning with our audiences through dialogue, performance, and collective introspection.
Our journey has been marked by breakthrough moments and ongoing challenges. The premiere of the play at the Renberg Theatre at the Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center was a pivotal affirmation of our message. From there, we received recognition from the Mayor of West Hollywood and were included in the city’s Models of Pride program. Our work was later taught as part of a contemporary American playwrights curriculum at Middlebury College, deepening our educational impact. This journey also led to the creation of our documentary feature film, In Full Bloom…transcending gender, which premiered at the Pan African Film Festival. The film has extended our reach globally and helped spark renewed momentum for our upcoming national tour and community-centered revival in 10 different cities across the country with a culminating performance in Washington, D.C.
Still, we have operated from the grassroots up. We’ve never lacked vision, commitment, or community support - but we have lacked the financial infrastructure to scale. Our greatest barrier has consistently been funding. We are grateful to our fiscal sponsor, Fulcrum Arts, for providing the 501(c)(3) umbrella support needed to grow responsibly and sustainably. Now, with proven success, creative readiness, and national urgency, we are poised to meet this moment.
We are prepared to bring Lovely Bouquet of Flowers into correctional facilities, universities, theaters, and public spaces across the country. We have the creative team, the institutional relationships, and the clarity of purpose. What we need now is the investment to match the impact. Together, we can expand this work into the movement it was always meant to be.
Alt last paragraph for activist applications: We are prepared to bring Lovely Bouquet of Flowers into correctional facilities, universities, theaters, and public spaces across the country. We have the creative team, the institutional relationships, and the clarity of purpose. What we need now is the investment to match the impact. At a time when the current administration is actively working to erase trans existence through harmful legislation and targeted rhetoric, our work is not just urgent - it is necessary, unapologetic, and non-negotiable.
